Kaiteriteri Boat Charter is owned and operated by Abel Tasman Kayaks. We offer a range of half, full day and overnight charters in the Abel Tasman National Park, Marlborough Sounds and Durville Island. We typically leave from Kaiteriteri or Marahau.  All options are family friendly and have no age restrictions unless stated.

We also offer return transport to/from Nelson or Motueka, onsite container cafe serving breakfast, coffee and snacks, we can take care of the catering for your day or overnight excursion. We also have showers to finish your day.

Kayaking the Abel Tasman National Park is a great way to explore the coastline, beaches and coves. We can customise any of our kayak trips or put together a bespoke day or overnight adventure. A custom trip would include a private charter and kayak guide for the day or overnight. This is a great option for families and larger groups, providing more flexibility for a range of abilities, time and experience.

We operate a private charter service for anyone wanting to come and go from the Abel Tasman. Our charters offer flexibility outside of our scheduled tours and normal business hours (daylight hours only). We are able to drop walkers at one point and their gear at another spot along the Abel Tasman Coastal Track and can do this for multiple days. Falls River swing bridge

We are the only operator offering seal swimming in the Abel Tasman.

Join these playful and curious creatures at close quarters in their environment. Our low impact eco friendly swim allows these beautiful animals to respond in their own way. We will take you on a 45 min scenic cruise up into the Tonga Island Marine Reserve area.  Your briefing takes place on beautiful Onetahuti beach.  Following the briefing you will be water taxied over to Tonga Island where you will experience a one hour low impact eco friendly swim with the seals Kekeno. After your swim enjoy lunch at one of the beaches in the heart of the park and there may be the opportunity for a short walk or a paddle on a paddle sit on top kayak. Return to Marahau by water taxi.

If some of your group are not keen to get in the water they can stay on the boat and can seal watch!

We provide a support vessel, guide for 5 hours, snorkeling gear, purpose fit 5mm wetsuit, snacks, lunch and drinks.

Please note that Seal Swimming requires a high tide and normally checks in 8.15 am and returns 1.00 pm.  Costs start from $250pp for 8 people. Please send us an enquiry  for further information, timings and costings.

Please note the minimum age is 14+ with a maximum of 8 people per trip. Seal Swimming runs from early Dec through until end of April.

In our mind, this is the perfect day out..... Cruise by boat into the park, set up for a day on the beach with sun shelter, sit on top kayaks and a great selection of food. Spend the day swimming, walking, kayaking or just relaxing.  We can supply the shelter, catering and a guide for the day.

Beach Day Out

The Abel Tasman National Park offers a picture perfect backdrop to your special day. We have many options available for transferring wedding parties and guests into the park. Legato is an intimate option for a bridal party with seating for 12 and our additional water taxis can accommodate another 48 – 50 guests. Whether you are after a cruise & ceremony, a long lunch, pick up and drop off’s, or staying in the park we are able to take care of you transport requirements and make your special day memorable.

Koru Kuia

Our fishing charter options are provided through Legato Charters owned and operated by Justin Hobbs. Justin has an intimate knowledge of this coastline ensures that no time is wasted on these fishing charter.  He offers visitors and private groups a choice of day charters and overnight/long weekend fishing adventures in both the Nelson area and Marlborough Sounds. 

Legato and his crew are well equipped to cater for bottom and top fishing, lure fishing, trolling and long lining. The Abel Tasman main species are Blue Cod, Tarakihi, Snapper, Gurnard, Kingfish and Kahawhai.

The Marlborugh Sounds and Durville Island areas offer more variety and larger size fish species for catching. Species include Blue Cod, Tarakihi, Snapper, Gurnard, Kingfish and Kahawhai and Groper.

Our diving and free diving options Legato Chaters owned and operated by Justin Hobbs.There are a number of great dive spots in Tasman Bay, Durville Island & Marlborough sounds. Legato is well set up for diving with easy access in and out of the water. We cater for recreational divers who have their own gear and can supply gear and wet suits for free diving. If you are unable to travel with your scuba gear we can recommend where to hire before your charter.
